|Figure painting workshop with master modeler Julio Cabos
Here is a report on the figure painting workshop organized by our friend Fabricio Fay
during last weekend. The workshop was limited to 25 participants, and
it was fully booked long before the weekend. The event attracted
modelers from all over Brazil, and some were present in the workshop with maestro Ruiz last year.
The lecturer this year was nothing less than the master figure painter
Julio Cabos, from Spain. Mr. Cabos is a worldwide known figure
painter, and he has been a long time association with Andrea Colors,
being even responsible for helping in the development of the Andrea's
figure paint sets. He has also authored several boxarts of many scale
figure brands. It
was a pleasure to have him sharing his skills and techniques with
Mr. Cabos impressed us all for his knowledge in the
Physics of the painting process, and started early on Saturday morning
talking about things we don't find in books, like the correct way to
load brush, bristles stiffness and many other interesting topics. His
strength was put to test by talking and showing his skills to the
attendance during more than three hours at times.
Andrea provided the brushes, paints and books, and Julio brought several famous boxarts with him:
The object of our course, somehow related to the new Tamiya Corsair in 1/32, was this:
We also had several paint sets for the worshop raffle, courtesy of the sponsors...
must acknowledge Fabricio Fay for the brilliant initiative. I cannot
claim my figures will not suck from now on, but even we, aircraft and
AFV modelers had a most enjoyable and fun time.
Let's see what he will bring to us for next year's workshop...
